August 29, 2006

An installation ceremony was held on June 11 at the Ridgewood Country Club for incoming officers of the New Fairfield Lions Club. Lion Doug Stram was elected as Club President. Stram has been an active member of the New Fairfield Lions Club since 1994.

Lion Mike Gillotti was elected to serve as Secretary, and Lion Kim Redenz as Treasurer. The club’s vice-presidents are: Dave Meyers – 1st VP; Suzanne Kerner – 2nd VP and Zachary Macinski – 3rd VP.

Since the Club’s chartering in 1952, its members have worked on a variety of projects in the local community, such as the annual 4th of July Parade, senior citizen picnic, antique car show, Breakfast with Santa, senior holiday luncheon, Easter Egg Hunt, and Girl Scout Camp cleanup. Proceeds from past fundraising events have gone to provide scholarships to graduating seniors, support of local sport leagues, sponsoring the Leos Club, School Wish List, disaster relief, support for local needy families, and contributions to local and national organizations focusing on services for the blind and research to prevent blindness. The Club is currently preparing for the annual carnival, to be held at Consolidate School from Tuesday, July 18th – Saturday, July 22nd.

The New Fairfield Lions Club has 62 members and meets on 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at 7pm at Biscotti’s. Lions clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
